Let’s me start by saying in all of my life, I never ever EVER  imagined that I would get away with taking a two week honeymoon.  In this day and age, it’s really unheard of unless you’re not working or you have boat-loads of money.   I fit into neither of those categories.  So when the Engineer and I took off two weeks from work and left for a 10 day trip to Belize for our honeymoon,  it was AWESOME!

(This is the view from the pier looking back at Xanadu, one of the two resorts we stayed at in Belize)

So..why did the most wonderful, exciting, action packed, adventurous honeymoon ruin my summer?

Three weeks ago, we got on not just one but three planes, and left the laid back, relaxing, tan lifestyle of the sunny Caribbean and arrived back in Knoxville.   Now before you all huff and puff, let it be known that I love Knoxville.  That’s why after 10 years, I’ve stayed here.  Trust me, there have been many instances where I’ve been tempted to leave (the summer in Austin,  our many trips to San Diego, etc), but Knoxville has a extremely low cost of living, we already have a great life established and well… the Engineer and  I love the football team.  However, when you compare all the great things there were to do in Belize with all of the great things to do in Knoxville, there isn’t much comparison.  Maybe it’s because everything in Belize was so new, but it seemed like there was an endless amount of activities.    Since being home, we’ve (read: I’ve) been kinda bored.

What’s a girl to do when you’ve been back from your honeymoon for 3 weeks and you’ve already been to the movies FOUR times (which, by the way, is more movies than we saw the entire last half of 2007), you’re bored out of your mind, and even shopping doesn’t sound fun to you?

Plan a road trip, of course!   I got to planning quickly, so that DH couldn’t talk me out of it.   So in two ‘hopefully’ very short weeks, DH , myself, and our friends D&E will be piling into a car and driving to Mason, Ohio.     What’s in Mason?

Kings Island Amusement Park!  The Engineer’s never been (It’s been at least 12 years since I’ve been), and what’s more adventurous than strapping yourself into a wooden roller coaster and topping speeds in excess of 60 MPH?  Can’t think of anything??  That’s right.. because there isn’t anything better.

DH thinks I’m out of my mind for planning another trip, especially since we have two trips to the family compound cabin, one trip to Nashville, and a trip to Camden before the end of July.  Then there’s DH’s class reunion in August (Nashville) and his brother’s wedding in November (Atlanta).   It is alot of traveling, but this girl has got to get away.

I’m off to buy our tickets.  They are on sale until the 15th.  w00t!
