I know it’s been a while since the last blog. The Engineer and I were super busy this weekend getting ready for our trip to Monterey/San Francisco this weekend. My cousin is getting married in Monterey and I convinced Boy  to go by dangling the “mini-vacation” carrot at him. So we’re going to fly into San Francisco on Friday, then head down to Monterey. The wedding is on Saturday, our west coast wedding shower is on Sunday, then we’re heading out to spend from Sunday afternoon until our flight leaves early Tuesday morning in San Francisco acting like the typical tourist. We’re very excited to have a change to get out and play.

So in case you missed the little add in there, we’re being thrown a ‘west coast’ shower on Sunday. HOW FREAKIN AWESOME is that?!

For those of you who don’t know, the Engineer and I both have family ties to the sunny state of California. His mother grew up in Orange county, and her family still lives there. Both Boy and his twin brother “Lux” were born in LA (although neither readily admits it). My father and his family moved to San Diego when he was in middle school, and my mother’s family moved to Santa Clara when she was 2. Both of my sisters and pretty much all of my mother’s family still live on the west coast. With all these relatives living in California, there really is no reason why we shouldn’t be out there more. But alas, we just don’t spend enough time with our California families. I really think that should change. I’m a big fan of California. Big Fan.

Anyway, I’m off topic. So my sisters and my godmother (my mother’s older sister) are throwing Boy and I a wedding shower on Sunday, the day after my cousin (my godmother’s daughter) gets married. I think originally that my mother wanted to make it a surprise, but various family members, knowing my pickiness (or my anal retentiveness) warned against it. So mom and I have helped plan the shower. Boy, on the other hand, wants nothing to do with it. I think he’s still a bit intimidated by the size of my mother’s family. She is one of eight, and when you add in the extended family, well… we get out of hand quickly. Lucky for him, he’s not required to be there and he and my brother-in-law will likely find some trouble to get into while we’re all at the shower.

Again, I digress. The whole point of this long story is to say that I got home last week (on Friday I believe) to see this on my front porch.

What is this? It’s a package from B3. I didn’t order anything from B3. The Engineer surely wouldn’t order anything from B3. Since it was addressed to me I thought I would open it, but decided to do some investigating first. So I pulled out the trusty laptop and looked up our B3 registry. OMG!! Someone had bough us something off our wedding registry!! I couldn’t help but let out a squeal of glee (it went something to the sound of WEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!).

It was our FIRST WEDDING GIFT!!! Who could it be from?? I was intrigued now. Who would get the honor of being able to say that they gave us the first ever wedding present that we got? I had a feeling that it would be my mother, but she hadn’t mentioned anything about us ‘waiting’ for a package (She usually says something to the line of ‘Oh.. just be watching the mail.’).  Since I knew it was a gift for us (not me), I decided that I really had to wait for Boy to get home so we could open it together. When I say open it together, I mean, I take the pictures while he opens the gift.

Please ignore the stupid look on his face. He looks high, but he’s not. That’s what happens when you get an inexperienced photographer taking action shots.

What was wrapped in that silver paper!?

I present you with the Cuisinart 3.5 cup food processor!! I’ve been acquiring red appliance on and off for about a year now so that in the near future I can proceed with my evil plan to use a cherry theme in my kitchen. When we registered for appliances, I tried to find ones that came in red so they would fit my theme. When I scanned this little guy, the SKU gave me a sad two toned beep, which at our B3 means it’s short stocked. I was a little disappointed knowing that they could discontinued or sell out of the little red food processor before we got married. Well I am sad no longer! I’m elated to be able to add this to my growing collection of appliances. I heart kitchen appliances. I think I can blame the Food Network for this. Just the other day I was thinking about how I wished I had a food processor. I didn’t know what I would do with it, but I really wanted one. I believe I even told Boy that I could bake him a pie if only I had a food processor. LOL

I can’t think of a better first wedding present ever.

So attached to my beautiful gift was a little card.

It was from my cousin Jason, his wife Valerie, and Jason’s mom Romy. The Engineer and I were at Jason and Valerie’s wedding 18 months ago in San Jose (it was actually the last time boy and I were in Norther California) and they are now expecting their first child. It really is a blessed time for our family.

The gift was truly a surprise and was so very generous of them! We can’t thank them enough! You guys are the best!

So, I guess this means we can’t turn back now. Or the food processor has to go back.
